Ingredients

  • 8 slices of your favorite bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • (Optional) Sliced turkey for added protein

Instructions

  • Place a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • On the non-buttered side of 4 slices, evenly distribute the shredded cheddar cheese. If desired, add a layer of sliced ham or turkey.
  • Top each with the remaining 4 slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
  • Place the sandwiches on the heated skillet or griddle.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown, and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from heat and let them cool for a minute before slicing.
  • Serve: Slice the grilled cheese sandwiches diagonally and serve warm.
