of your favorite bread

shredded cheddar cheese

unsalted butter

(Optional) Sliced turkey

Instructions
Place a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Butter one side of each bread slice.
On the non-buttered side of 4 slices, evenly distribute the shredded cheddar cheese. If desired, add a layer of sliced ham or turkey.
Top each with the remaining 4 slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
Place the sandwiches on the heated skillet or griddle.
Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown, and the cheese is melted.
Remove from heat and let them cool for a minute before slicing.
Serve: Slice the grilled cheese sandwiches diagonally and serve warm.

Experiment with different cheese blends for unique flavors.
